[Review] Nikon Coolpix AW100

Nikon Coolpix AW100
The Nikon AW100 Coolpix digital camera is the perfect companion for all your rugged and extreme adventures. Dive into 33 feet of water or climb to a chilling altitude of 15 degrees Fahrenheit and still get the most amazing, high-quality, high definition shots any time. Create action-packed movies and connect it to your laptop, desktop or HDTV to share your most thrilling adventures with friends and family, in stereo sound. Take steady shots and never miss the action!

Nikon Coolpix AW100 Features

Shoot every view and heartbeat with its glass lens and a sensor which works best under the lowest of lighting conditions. With the Action Control feature, it allows you to adjust its settings when wearing gloves, capture high-impact photos and preview it through its anti-reflective display. Built for adventure, it has a GPS tracking software and an electronic compass to guide you through unfamiliar routes.

This Coolpix digital camera is powered by the EXPEED C2 image-processing engine. You can take up to 250 images with the rechargeable Lithium Ion battery on a single charge.
Night time traveling can be brightened with the inbuilt flash of the AW100, which has a range of 300 - 3500 mm (Wide) and 500 - 2200 mm (Tele). This Nikon camera has 19 scene modes like Beach, Night Landscape, Pet Portrait, Underwater and many more. In the Underwater scene mode, the device adjusts settings to prevent unnatural green or blue cast in images, giving you dramatic pictures of your underwater experiences.
This travel camera has a combination of lens-shift and electronic Vibration Reduction, enabling you to take sharp and blur-free pictures. The Smile mode of this digital camera automatically fires the shutter when a subject smiles, and the Blink Warning feature displays a warning message when a subject has blinked.
With the self-timer of this point and shoot camera, you can delay the shutter release by 2 or 10 seconds and be in every image with your friends. You can take up to 3 shots in the Continuous Shooting mode and capture every instance of a sky-diving or scuba-diving adventure.

Even though it is made up of plastic, it does not feel cheap at all. Also, I am confident it will survive a drop. Hence, I do not plan on doing a drop test. ;)

Why you should buy it?

1. It is a small camera, and weighs less too. Hence, it is easy to slip in your pockets.

2. Clear pictures at higher ISO levels.

3. Water proof.

Why you shouldn't buy it?

1. Again, it is a small camera. Hence, the buttons are kept small in order to have the back LCD as large as possible.

Nikon Coolpix AW100 Verdict

If you are searching for a outdoor, water-proof camera, I will highly recommend it.
